It is my distinct pleasure to announce that on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., The
University of the West Indies (UWI) will host its inaugural UWI London Black Tie Benefit
Dinner at The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, at 5:30 p.m. An “After Party” will follow at the
London Edition.
This inaugural Black Tie event follows in the tradition of the UWI Toronto Benefit Awards now in its 16th year, which has been tremendously successful raising much
needed funds for the UWI Scholarship Programme.
All proceeds generated from the UWI London Benefit Dinner will be granted in post graduate
scholarships to students involved in Climate Change and Environmental Social Governance research
at UWI. As you know, Climate Change is an existential threat to us in the Caribbean and The
University is working assiduously to diminish its devastating effects on our beloved region.
The UWI London Benefit Dinner will also be used to honour individuals of Caribbean heritage who
have attained outstanding success in their respective fields, those who have brought to prominence
issues that affect the region, successful Caribbean organisations, and organisations that have worked
to mitigate issues which affect the region.
Please join us in this mission by purchasing tickets or becoming a sponsor. Purchase on our website or contact Ms. Lara Awonaya at [email protected] or (T)) 44 (0)
2034884051.
The UWI London Benefit Dinner already promises to be a tremendous success. Join us as we gather
to celebrate the very best of the Caribbean on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in the beautiful City of
London.
I look forward to seeing you there.
Hilary Beckles,
Vice-Chancellor, The University of the West Indies
