With a current enrolment of almost 50,000 students, The University of the West Indies is committed to serving the needs of the English-speaking Caribbean. Its primary mission is to educate generations of leaders who will continue to forge partnerships in their fields and throughout the world.
Since 2018, The University of the West Indies has earned a place among the top 600 universities in the world, the top 40 in Latin America and the Caribbean, and in the top 100 Golden Age University Rankings and Impact Rankings in 2020. The University remains the only Caribbean university to make these prestigious lists.
The University has expanded to five campuses that serve diverse communities across the Caribbean region – Mona (Jamaica), Cave Hill (Barbados), St. Augustine (Trinidad & Tobago), Five Islands (Antigua and Barbuda) and the Open Campus – all of which deliver high-quality education, research and services to all 17 contributing countries that support the University.
UWI graduates can be found in every sector of Caribbean society, including the highest levels of government and business. Over 24 proud Pelicans have risen to become Heads of Government and countless others are leaders of all the professions – locally, regionally and internationally.
